According to Dan Zedan, owner of Nature’s Finest Foods, a company that specializes in marketing tree nuts, the recent drought in California makes this a great time for southern pecans. In an article published by Growing Georgia about the drought in California and how it’s affecting almonds, Zedan was quoted as saying, “In the ingredient business, you just don’t switch overnight. But over the past few years, companies have replaced walnuts with pecans in existing products and launched new products with pecans.”
