Consumer demand is driving innovation at companies all over the world, including General Mills.
The Fortune 500 food company has been busy unveiling new products to align with the population’s shift in preferences. Trends are forming where consumers demand more protein, less fat, less sugar, and in certain instances, gluten free alternatives. New products being introduced by General Mills include Gluten-Free Oatmeal, Cheerios Protein cereal, and grain free granola.
Consumer trends are truly fueling innovation. Specifically, pertaining to gluten free innovation and increases in protein. “Today, more than 50 percent of consumers are looking to add more protein to their diets, making high-protein foods among the most sought-after items in U.S. supermarkets.” It will be exciting to watch this trend, and keep up with the “big food” companies during this shift. We think the future is bright for pecans.
